Some of Australia’s top Paralympians will compete in the Top End in July as part of the National Wheelchair Basketball League (NWBL) Finals. This is the first time the event will take place in the territory after being canceled in 2021 due to COVID-19,
The spotlight will be on our own territory team, the Darwin Salties, with homegrown talent like Clarence McCarthy-Grogan and Tom O’Neill Thorne co-captaining the team in its first-ever NWBL season.
Scheduled for July 15-17 at Darwin Basketball Stadium, the event will feature women’s and men’s teams vying for the 2022 National Wheelchair League Championship.
The competition features top teams from Sydney, Wollongong, Brisbane and Perth, with many players and fans heading to the Top End for the highly anticipated event.
The National Wheelchair Basketball Finals are supported by the Northern Territory Government through the Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC).
