Betting company set to renovate five basketball courts in Dar

The renovation of the Leaders Club basketball court was launched this weekend.

Speaking during the day, Betway Tanzania Marketing Manager Calvin Mhina said the company, in conjunction with the Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF), is renovating all public basketball courts into public sports centers aimed at to increase the value of basketball.

He said to ensure that all renovated basketball courts are effectively maintained for continued use, the TBF will be responsible for overseeing the facilities.

“TBF will ensure that all of these courts remain in good condition and up to standard for basketball games and other related sports,” he said.

”Betway has taken on the responsibility of renovating the Leaders Club basketball court with the value of basketball in mind and it is among the famous courts and we believe in building the community through games and sports. is part of our responsibility.

Mwenze Kabinda, General Secretary of TBF, applauded Betway’s move to renovate the basketball courts in Dar es Salaam noting that the move will add value to basketball.

“The Tanzanian Basketball Federation is pleased with the action taken by Betway to invest in the renovation of the basketball courts, which is very important for the development of basketball.”

“So we would like to thank them for overseeing this project which will give us an extra push to introduce more basketball tournaments,” he said.

On the day of the launch, there was a sports bargain that brought together around 250 people and basketball players.

Attendees witnessed the launch of the court, with women’s basketball teams, namely Dar Queens and Dar Divas, taking part in a game, aiming to mark Women’s Day, a cash prize of 500,000/- a was awarded to the winners.
