Clackamas’ Jazzy Davidson tops ESPN list of female basketball players for current freshman class

Oregon basketball fans already know how powerful Jazzy Davidson of the Clackamas can be on the court.

But the freshman wing is gaining national recognition.

In the last HoopGurlz Recruitment Ranking, nicknamed the “Terrific 25”, Davidson is listed as the No. 1 player among the freshman class. The Terrific 25 is assembled by first basketball and is published by ESPN.

On the list, Davidson is listed as a five-star rookie with a player rating of 96. Darianna Alexander, an Ohio guard, is also listed as 96.

While she only played one season in the prep ranks at Oregon, Davidson has already made a name for herself. As a freshman, she averaged 22.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 4.1 steals per game. She was named the Oregon Girls Basketball Gatorade Player of the Yearwas the Mount Hood Conference Player of the Year and was a first team all-state selection.

The Cavaliers finished the 2021-22 season with a 27-3 record and finished third in the Class 6A state basketball tournament.

There are other Oregon girls listed on the HoopGurlz recruiting leaderboard. Sophia Bell, who will be playing her final year at Jesuit after playing at St. Mary’s, is listed 34th among the junior class. South Medford’s Donovyn Hunter was ranked No. 98 in the junior class.

Sherwood post Ava Heiden is No. 47 among the sophomore class.
