KVAC Honors Top Midcoast Skiers and Other Basketball Athletes – Knox County VillageSoup

AUGUSTA — The Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference unveiled its all-conference and all-varsity selections for alpine and Nordic skiing on Tuesday, March 15, a development that has seen a slew of student-athletes from Camden Hills Regional High School earn awards.

This season, the KVAC has chosen to release all-conference honors for high school sports in waves. Basketball, wrestling and swimming were unveiled on Monday, March 7 and cheering, women’s hockey and indoor track on Thursday, March 10.

From skiing, Windjammers Zola Roberts and Lily Stowe were named to the all-conference first team in the Alpine Girls, while Abigail Williams, Maggie Metzler and Greer LaFiura earned second team honors.

Iselin Bratz, Eliana Cortese, Allison Gill, Elsie Hildreth, Eliza Larsen-Leavins and Charlotte Taylor of Camden Hills have been named to the conference academic team.

On the boys’ side, Roger Huguet and Marc Huguet of Camden Hills were on the all-conference first team and Britt LaFiura on the second team. The Huguets are brothers.

While the league has previously awarded all-conference selections to those deemed worthy of their efforts on the basketball court, the conference’s high school hoops coaches went a step further with three more top-notch accolades.

Class A and B coaches handed out additional awards including honorable mention, all defensive and all rookie.

Players from Camden Hills, Medomak Valley from Waldoboro, Oceanside from Rockland and Mount View from Thorndike won individual awards. Mount View, a Class C team, receives awards in KVAC Class B.

Additionally, the Medomak Valley Boys and Oceanside Girls were considered Class B KVAC Champions due to compiling the most healing points from the Maine Principals’ Association. Games have been played in the past to determine league champions, but that was stopped a few years ago.

The Mariner girls also won the Class B State Championship.

Area basketball student-athletes who earned honorable mention, rookie and all-defensive teams included:


Honorable Mention — Noah Hurd, Mount View; Cohen Galley and Bodhi Ames, Oceanside; and Jake Bickmore, Medomak Valley.

All-Defensive Team – Trevor Brown and Blake Morrison, Medomak Valley; and Wyatt Evensen and Noah Hurd, Mount View; and
Westen DeWaard, Camden Hills.

All-Rookie Team – Ben Tripp, Oceanside; and Kory Donlin, Medomak Valley.


Honorable Mention — Addison McCormick, Medomak Valley.

All-Defensive Team – Tessa Whitley, Camden Hills; Abby Waterman, Oceanside; Alyssa Creamer, Medomak Valley; and Kricket Thompson, Mount View.

All-Rookie Team – Kytana Williamson, Medomak Valley.
